My starter burned up in my Johnson 35 (J35RLCND). I took it to a starter place and they told me it couldn't be rebuilt. The wiring (field coils) is shot but the shaft, aramature and housing look ok (no physical damage). The starter solenoid stuck on and burned the starter up.

Anybody have a source on that?

Try a motor shop, try Wisner electric in Baltimore, MD.
