I took my old boat off my tilt trailer and dropped it in my lawn. How can I get it back on another trailer? Any words of advice what to use?

Well, if you are talking about a 12' aluminum jonboat, I'd tell you to pick it up and put it back on. Perhaps if you gave some details, we could better give you a plan of action.

Well how big is the boat and what shape is the hull? is it in stands or anything or just sitting on the ground?

I'd say, just tilt your other trailer, nose up, then attach the winch and start cranking. The boat will, at first, keep the trailer nose up, then will eventually hit a tipping point where it makes the trailer hitch lower back to the ground. When that happens, slow your cranking so it lowers itself slowly, then keep cranking. Some heavy plastic sheeting between the hull and bunk boards should prevent hull scratches.

Just don't call me if this all goes pear shaped :D

Are the Arkansas floods coming your way? That would make it easier, lol.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Seriously, as stated above, more info is needed such as size and weight of boat.

If the boat isn't too heavy, I imagine a plan such as parking the trailer in front of the boat with the wheels off, keeping it attached to your truck hitch. That's right, set the trailer on the hubs right in the grass. This will keep the trailer low at the rear. Using a hand/electric winch, hoist the boat forward onto the trailer. Once loaded, set down some blocks of wood to set a floor jack on and jack each side of the trailer up so you clean the hubs and re install the trailer tires. Off you go.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Well, I managed to pop my 17ft glastron off my yard with my tilt trailer without problems.

Here's how I did it. I backed the trailer up to the boat and got it set first.

Take the winch strap to the boat and hook it up and get it snug with the trailer in the position that you want.

Start winching until the boat and the trailer make contact.

RELEASE the hitch from the tow vehicle.

continue winching.

What happens is that the boat finds the same plane as the boat as it gets winched on, the tongue will raise in the air until you find the fulcrum of the boat/trailer, at which point you can continue winching if you have a trailer jack attached to the boat, or you can drop the tongue back onto the hitch once you get to the point where the boat is supported and you can push the tongue back down easily.

I did a dry retrieval of my 14ft boat w/motor at the lake last week and while it was a little difficult to winch onto dry bunks, we got it up and out of the lake with little difficulty.

Put a sign up that says free beer, and have all the folks who stop by help you lift it onto the trailer ;)

Wow I was looking at the pictures of your 1976 Yar Craft Yankee and my boat looks exactly like that It is just a little bigger. I will post some pictures. By the way my boat is 17 feet and about 2000 lbs give or take if that helps.

coat your bunks with liquid laundry soap (washes off MUCH easier than dish soap) walk the trailer in front of the boat and hook up winch strap..... start cranking.... lift tongue so trailer starts under boat..... as you near the tipping point pull the tongue to the ground by hand and keep weight on it until it stays down on it's own.... after all is said and done hose the soap off so you get as little as possible in the lake of river.

a 17'er should hardly work up a sweat..... enjoy

I used an engine hoist and straps to get the bow/nose/front up and slid most of the trailer under. I don't trust that bow eye to pull the weight of the boat.
