I'm having a tough time finding the seafoam spray...everyone including inoats seems to be out of it. Is there anything else out there that works just as well?

Also, I've red some horror stories from people who performed a decarb and sustained major engine damage shortley thereafter. Is there somethng that I should be wary of or special precautions I should take?

I thought I'd spray inside the cylinder wells, allow it to set over night, and run it WOT the next day. After a few runs down the lake, I figured that I'd spray some into the carborator and run it WOT again. Does this sound OK or should there be another order?

I didn't think that they would sell it there, I'll check it out. Thanks!!!

By the way..I meant deep creep. I think seafoam makes it but I'm not sure

O'reilly auto parts has it too.
I just decarbed mine a coouple days ago and I sprayed inside the intakes and inside the spark plug holes and let it sit over night ..the next day I crancked it up and it smoked a little for about 2 minutes and cleared up. so far so good.. was going today and run the motor WOT but we were having some storms. But all i have to do to start it now is pump the bulb hold the choke in for five seconds and purrs like a kitten:)

Thanks for the help! I found both the stuff you put in the gas tank and the deep creep at Auto Zone.

However, I'm wondering. Can it be harmful to the motor to: use the stuff in the gas tank, spray in the cylinder wells, and spray in the carborator? Can it be overkill?

Re: I want to decarb my 73 V4 115hp

i put one whole can of seafoam in one gal gas mixed w/tcw3 warm engine and choke it off @ a very fast idle let it set for about 30 min. then run it wot on the water do this about 3 times until the mix is gone, then i gome tilt engine up spray deep creep in plug holes let it sit over night run it the next day, I do not know if that is exactly the correct but it works for me...
then replace the plugs if needed good luck

no need for WOT.

really simple, your thinking too hard here. mix some sea-foam with half gallon of gas or soo, with oil of course....

run it through your motor. when your done, kill motor, let sit for while. then re start and look for the goo and smoke.

OR

spray some deep creep into your plug holes and let sit. the upon restart, let idle and spray into your carbs. although the reg sea-foam mixed w/ gas gets into all the fuel lines and carb passages and does a more thorough cleaning.

I'm going to spray deep creep into the plug holes early in the morning and let it set. I'll then take the boat out sometime afternoon and let it run.

I've also bought some new spark plugs to replace the surface gap plugs (that easily fill with gunk) that I installed a few weeks ago.

you are better off running it on muffs and getting it up to operating temperature and then pull the plugs and spray with Deep Creep then grab the flywheel and spin it over by hand a few times and spray some more in and let it sit for a few hours.

Yep. It's the heat that makes it effective...

Re: I want to decarb my 73 V4 115hp

I performed the decarb this past weekend and everything seemed to go well. I took out the plugs and sprayed deep creep into the cylinder wells and let it set for a while (I changed the impeller while it was seitting). I put the muffs on the motor and cranked her up. She smoked pretty good then things cleared up before I shut her down. I then removed the plugs and sprayed another round of deep creep into the cylinder wells while it was hot. I let it set overnight and next morning I poured seafoam into the fuel tank and took her to the lake.

It smoked for about 5-10 minutes then cleared up. I hope this gets rid of some of the gunck in my motor. I'm replacing my surface gap plugs with more standard type plugs gapped at 0.04.

Thanks for the help everyone
