I never win anything but this I won and so did my wife!!! My bank called and told me to cut up my credit/debit card!

TD Banknorth has recently been notified by Visa that an illegal data intrusion into the Hannaford Bros. computer network may have resulted in the theft of some of our customers' credit and debit card numbers. The stolen data was limited to credit and debit card numbers and expiration dates, but no personal information, such as names or addresses, was accessed. The intrusion affected Hannaford stores in the Northeast, Sweetbay stores in Florida, and certain independently-owned retail locations in the Northeast that carry Hannaford products.

This is the 2nd time in 2 years for my wife and the first time for me.

You card may no longer be valid .but the amount you owe is,,,,,,I hate credit cards

I use the debit card just for the ease of not having to carry cash and it comes right out of my account. I am just pissed that I have lost the ease of getting gas and groceries until I get a new card.

Thats one account that would be closed as fast as i could drive there!
Pay them the balance and say stick it where the sun don't shine!
I did that with one of my banks in the past,i had over 40k in a savings account and made them give it to me in cash..The other customers in line heard how bad the service there was too...
That really stinks Bob!

Don't misunderstand..... my credit union is great! My wife and I use the debit cards instead of checks and it has made life easier.

Hannafords super market had the breech in security that allowed all the card number's out to people unknown.

Around here you wont get any bank to give you 40k in cash,they dont have it. I had to go to 2 differant banks last time I just wanted 7k in cash, Are you sure they gave you cash and not a check?

Yea,I missed that somehow...I thought the card was issued from them..
Still its not good your info got out there where the wrong hands could abuse it.

I think it was Date Line NBC that did a story on how your card info get stolen. They drove around town with an I.T guy, he works for some security company, with a laptop and pick up unsecured wireless traffic from stores. From their van they could see that the majority of stores use WEP encryption but there are still many that don't. Visa, MC, etc. will fine these stores for not using secured data transmission. This was why the parent company of TJ Maxx and Marshall got millions of credit card number and customer informations stolen. Asked why they haven't upgraded their system? because it cost less for them to pay the fines from credit card companies then to upgrade their network.

Yes,it was up near Greensboro about 12 years ago.

It can be done, though sometimes it does require 24-48 hours for the bank to aquire the cash.
