I just acquired a 1978 Thunderbird Tri-Hull. Thunderbird provided the boats that were used in the TV series "FLIPPER"...

Does anyone know if Flipper is still in re-runs? I wonder what time it's on these days...I might get to see my boat... Well; not "MY" boat...but other similiar Thunderbirds...

BTW...I wonder why Tri-Hulls have fallen from favor... It seems that no manufactures make them anymore. Do any of you want to comment as to the ride and handling characteristics of their Tr-Hulls?

Thanks for reading, Chuck

Well, mine is of 1967 vintage. It handles great, is stable for fishing and walking around in. It planes almost instantly and the attitude of the boat is always almost level.

I like trihulls!

I never had a problems with tri's either, as long as you knew what you had. They could be a little rough riding.

Two of the best tri designs were T-Bird and Wellcraft-Airslot.

I guess I should mention Whaler too.

In 1972 my Dad bought a 1970 19ft Thunderbird with an OMC v-6 165hp, the boat was pretty fast for the early 70s. But like DJ said they can be rough riding in haevy chop.

Dad named ours.... RUMP BUMPER

Well built and solid.

There was one Tbird on Flipper. There was also a Boston Whaler 13.
