Can as many of you give an opinion on if you think it is worth repairing a 22 year old 120 hp johnson. It has no spark right now and I do not have the special equipment to check the coils and stator and other items. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks

Might be worth taking in to a shop and ask them this question. A 1990 is not very new, but even on CL a working one is probably going to be over $1500. If its only $400-$600 to repair you would still be ahead.

I would have it looked at by a mechanic. They can recomend what options are the best. If your boat can be fixed for a couple of hundred dollars why replace the entire engine. Your problemb may be a corroded wire of a bad cdi. Get a estimate and a compression test then make the decision.

as long as you have good compresion on all cylinders everything else is do-able.-Fuel-air-spark & timing.

Did you just buy the motor?

Your compression is good. A decarb might bring #2 and #4 compression up a bit(worth a try anyway).

I would def buy a service manual and work on it yourself. Even if you end up paying $200-300 in parts to get her running well....you'd still be way ahead of the game.

Yeah, i've been looking for that vintage motor to match my existing 90, they are going for on average 1100. so i would think it is worth fixing. Like other said if you have compression then it shouldn't be to "hard" to get it running.

It's not unusual for there to be slight compression variations between heads due to normal factory manufacturing variances.
