I just scored a minn kita endura-40 on craigslist, but it needs a prop.
can you get different pitches?
does a power prop make you go faster or slower??
I'm switching from a 28lb motor so I was hoping to gain some speed.

I am searching on this one, so any info about trolling motor props in general would be appreciatd

TIA!!

There are a number of props for MinnKota motors. A power prop provides more pull (just like a lower gear in your car). It does not make you go faster. If you fish in weey water there are weed cutter props. New MinnKotas have a prop with tips that are bent over. Install a prop that is the proper diameter and pitch for the motor. The back of the package tells you which one you need. Any store that sells fishing equipment will have them including right here on iBoats, Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc.

it's just an electric motor...if you pitch higher, it'll spin slower, work harder and hotter and wear out faster...lower pitch'll give it more torque, it'll probably spin faster & be happier. just my opinion, and I have no science or experience to support it.

You'd have to experiment to learn the effect on speed. Then post your results here. 8)

Are you going to race this thing or what? As JT says, the easier the prop spins (less pitch) the less current it draws and the longer the battery will last. It's a trolling motor, the slower you can make it go the better.

ya, I guess your right, I shopped around and ended up just getting the "wedge" from MK

ya gotta understand tho, the old one was dubbed the "fish frightner 5000" because the bearings were shot and im sure the wiring was near smoking hot most of the time. it would barely move you downwind... I took a lot of flack for it to say the least. I just wanted this one to be a huge difference! but I'm sure it will be.

now I just gotta get a day off to try it d:)
