iboats classified scam?

I have a boat for sale with iboats classifieds. I got a response from someone who wants to buy the boat, makes no mention of even looking at it, and wants to pay with a bank transfer. This has got to be a scam. There was a message from iboats along with his response warning of a possible scam. Has anyone ever sold a boat here and had that happen? I would be curious if it is common. Is there any way to try to catch them? Thanks.

That is a very common scam, radar.

He will send you a bank transfer for several hundred to several thousand too much and ask you to send him the difference.

You will later discover his bank transfer is bogus.

He doesn't give a flip about your boat, he just wants your money.

JB, Ya thats what I thought, I just replied back to bring cash when he comes to pick it up. I wish there was a way to sting them and catch em. Probably too much work and effort just to find out they are in some other country and cant be punished.I was glad to see iboats send me that warning.

Same thing on www.craigslist.com

looks like a great place to put classifieds, but for every one you post, you get 30 emails from different people in UK and Nigeria wanting to send me money orders for $4k for a $1k rusted out van and ship it to africa.

checkout www.scambaiter.com and you will find a wealth of info on these guys :)
