Press Release | March 1, 2002
Salt Lake City, UT March 1 — iboats.com announced that its network of boating Web sites received more consumer traffic during the last six months than the top 100 boat manufacturers' Web sites combined. Site traffic figures were provided by Alexa Internet, a leading independent Web site tracking service.
iboats also announced that it enjoyed its highest traffic month ever in February, breaking its July 2001 record by 19% and outperforming February, 2001 by 368%.
There were over 1 million user sessions in February on the iboats network of sites and the average user stayed for 12 minutes and 15 seconds, meaning that visitors to the iboats network of marine sites spent 204,167 hours on the sites throughout the month. According to Bruno Vassel III, iboats.com President & CEO, "The number of hours that boating consumers spent on our Web sites in February translates into 8,507 person-days or 23.3 person-years spent on iboats sites in February alone."
"This performance is especially encouraging not only for our many boat dealer partners, but also for other industry players looking for a highly effective way to reach the boating public," Vassel continued. "iboats offers advertisers the largest and most diverse audience of any boating site in the world, and we encourage them to take advantage of this resource."
"We remain very encouraged with the continuing rapid growth of our results online," Vassel added. "By mid-summer we expect our traffic and sales will again more than double beyond current record levels. Clearly, there is an enormous and rapidly increasing interest by consumers in searching for boats and other water-sports products and services online."
iboats.com tracks Web site traffic using Marketwave HitList software, a leading Web analysis program used by many Fortune 500 companies and very large Web properties.
iboats, inc, located in Salt Lake City, Utah is a privately-held company devoted to building the sales and profits of marine retailers. More information on iboats' dealer Web site packages, advertising opportunities and other services is available at www.iboats.com.
