Can you understand my question and then look at their reply!!?? How can they expect more of my bussisness?

Question:::> I need a keyed switch for a 1975 25HP Johnson mod# 25EL75B the OEM # 0386974,Can I get a price for a compatable switch in Sierra or Mallory even the price of the OEM

Their response??>Are you looking for the ignition switch with key? Also, we do not carry OEM Johnson parts; only after-market.

Heres the whole thing??????????

Hi Duane.

Are you looking for the ignition switch with key? Also, we do not carry OEM Johnson parts; only after-market.

What is wrong with accepting the terminology in the catalog, Dew2?? That IS an ignition switch, with key, that you asked for.

A simple "yes" would have moved the transaction along. A phone call would have done it as well.

Bottom line? You used wrong terminology and flipped out when asked in correct terminology if that is what you wanted.

I don't think you have a complaint.

So after iboats emailed you back did you send them another email clarifying again?

It's probably better to be grateful when someone asks for clarification rather than just sending you the wrong item. Repeating back the item description with the correct terminology is a tried and true method to avoid shipping the wrong item. I get the point that what was asked for was straight forward, but from a merchant's perspective you can't be careful enough. Iboats has a liberal return policy and has to protect itself from order fulfillment errors that cost profit.

Apparently the request wasn't well understood, so he asked for clarification. How happy would you have been to have gotten the wrong item?

You should be happy they even replied. I've waited days for a reply from other sites.

And the problem is what, if someone ask me for a keyed switch my first question would have been the same, huh.

I guess I asked for a part with the OEM number.Ironically they asked the same question back?? Cant they find part numbers??Then I asked for sierra/mallory,their reply was we dont carry OEM only after market parts??>What is sierra/mallory are they after market?
How many keyed switches does a motor have??well one with 0386974 attached to it??
Its so hard to navigate the parts any way I thought I use the forums so I will try to buy parts here.

Curious, if instead you were on the phone with them and they asked the same question back would you have hung up in disgust? I have a feeling you would have asked them if they had a sierra/mallory version of it right?

Why didn't you send one more email?

Re: Iboats Marine store

Where you went wrong was you asked for a "keyed switch" and not an ignition switch. When your communicating with someone over the internet you need to just about spell everything out so there's no confusion.
I tried ordering a part from boats.net the other day since iboats didn't have it listed. I used the "chat" function for help and the bonehead over there couldn't help me. The guy reminded me of a counterparts guy from Autozone.

Good advice for any communication, not just internet. I go thru this with Mrs. Brewman constantly- just becuase YOU understand what you mean, doesn't mean everyone or anyone else will.
