Who places the ranks on members, and how does one get promoted? For example, "cadet" is a newbie, i think, and "moderators" are longtime members? Does it go by posts count?

Yes, it goes by post count. There was a chart showing how many posts equals what rank, but I cant find it right now.

they are appointed or chosen to moderate the forums, and look for personal attacks, for sale ads (which are not allowed), and to move posts to correct categories.

In some case (maybe yours) the less you post the greater your chance for promotion

I believe it has to do with the flux capacitor thingy...

Although I could be wrong, I was wrong once, it was a Wednesday, a while back, actually a day much like today......

You get extra points if you own more than ten outboard motors, double points if they are OMC and half points if they are Homelite 4 strokes.

Rats,i figured since i live in the great lake state i would be an automatic,modulaton, rear admrial, cheif petty officer,swabby, type cadet being surrounded by all this fresh water!Woe is me a lowly cadet.
