I need to install a seperator and have searched the forums for a good one. Recommendations seem to be all over the place so I thought I would ask specific to my motor.

1993 Johnson 150 GLETR

Which iboats-offered filter will be the least expensive, but still effective solution for me. Iboats link is below for convenience. They seem to be similar but range from $25 to $100 or more. I just want an inexpensive solution that will also have cheap and available filters when they need replaced.

Thanks a bunch!!

Ditto the 10 micron one. Also look for a flow rate that is substantially more than you expect to burn at WOT. I have a 200 hp (~15-20 GPH at wide open) and have a Racor 90 gph filter. I'm sure 60 gph would be fine, but that's what was in my boat when I bought it and I just stick with it.

I also really recommend the kind with a clear bowl for drainage. The filter element itself can last a loooong time as long as you keep the water drained. The kind w/o the drain, in my prior experience, can only be changed on a schedule rather than checked and drained.

Finally, if readily available locally is important (which it is to me), you might want to check that out. The kind of filters you linked to are all Mallory (right?). I have NO IDEA if those brackets are compatible with other makes/models. My guess is yes. That said, the type that seems to be universally available in my town is Racor.

Mercury filters are also widely available and the replacement elements not too expensive. Sierra is available from any west Marine.
