Bought this boat a year or so from a family member that bought it elsewhere. Figure its had many owners, and no paperwork remains. I've heard it is a Century Trident, but couldn't find anything useful on Google about it. Can anyone second that?<br /><br />

<br /><br />Oh, by the way, I wasn't even born when it was built, I didn't come along til 8 years after it was built. ;)

US Coast Guard MIC (manufactured identification code) Database Search Results

MIC - OHZ
Company - OHIO HOMEMADE BOATS
Address - MIC For State Issued HINS
City
State - OH
Z = Homemade

The HIN is dated as May 2, 1973.

It appears that the HIN for that boat is registered with the Coast Guard Data Base as a homemade hull.

Where did those numbers come from ?

From the HIN I won't be able to find out any other info.

According to my 1973 catalog it is a '73 16' Trident. "New and Exciting for '73". The hull is "Haze White" and the upholstery iis "Sky Blue" and the flooring is "Blue/Black Tweed". According to the price list the boat could be bought with a 120 or 140 HP Mercruiser or a 120 or 140 Hp OMC for $4595 for the smaller engines and $4895 for the larger engines. Hope this helps yo a bit.

Re: ID help for my '73 Century

Thanks guys.

reel poor, I got that number right off the HIN tag on the rear of the boat. Only one I have, and I believe it's on my title as well.

frmarks, thanks. That's pretty cool. I've never seen another Century like it, and I couldn't even find a picture on google of a Trident. And it came with a Merc. 140hp, sure enough. At least now I know something about it.

Hey mate. Obviously your boat is not home made and I would guess that the title was lost many years ago and thats how it ended up with the OHZ etc. designation.

If you let me know your e-mail address I'll send you an article worth keeping concerning the deciphering of serial numbers and how yours ended up the way it is.

You can go to goodoldboat.com and search for the article other wise. "Deciphering an HIN".

Century boats heve the S/N stamped into many of the internal parts of the boat so it will require some searching and removal of interior components etc. to find the real S/N.

Contact David A&A Marine in Manistee, Michigan 616-723-8308 for more pointers on finding the S/N and how to decipher it once you do find it. It may not be in compliance with the newer rules concerning serial numbers.
