ideal location for fuel primer /filters?

putting a new fuel lines and primer and inline filters in my boat what is the best place for the primer?fitted with 60hp 89 vro johnson.<br /> should it be at the motor end of the fuel line or at the tank end?(not pipe and bulb kit but separate parts and will make)will it make any differance ?have a tempo fuel filter in engine at fuel pump ,do i need another one on the main hose?

I don't think it makes much difference where the primer bulb or filters are. Mine are kinda in the middle. I would recommend that you get a water seperator/fuel filter. The filter element looks like an automotive oil filter.

Hi Mark,<br /><br />Some people hide their water separator/filter for neatness. I found this a pain, so I've fitted one right in the splashwell where I can see it easily. I have the glass bowl type so I can see the state of the fuel, and being easily seen makes it useful as a diagnostic tool - if your motor gives trouble, you can check whether fuel's getting there or not. <br /><br />A primer bulb pushes better than it pulls, so if you have a forward gas tank and a long boat, fit the bulb near the tank. It's a detail only.
