Can anyone tell me the model year and any other details (long/short shaft, HP) of a Force 5 HP model # 52F9A Serial # 1677 or tell me where to go to get it. I really appreciate your help.
1989 model year <br />The 9 in your model number means 1989.<br />Starting in 1990 they went to a Mercury style model and serial number.<br /><br />Lots of small motor come with an odd shaft length, of about 17-18"<br /><br />My 2002 Merc 4hp has a 17" lower unit.
Roscoe: Thanks for your answer. I may need some additional confirmation. I am contemplating buying this engine on line and the seller of this engine insists that a Merc dealer told him it was a 1992. The seller appears to be a nice guy and has other wise been helpful with information relative to the engine...but I want to know whether I am buying an 89 or a 92. Is there a source that you are using for your information that would help me "document" the year of this motor. Are you actually looking at a book/manual or something or somewhere on line that would give me the model year that I could reference back to for the seller? I appreciate your additional help.
