I am fairly new to this forum stuff, but I have read several questions regarding the same question. "What year/how old" or "Can you tell me" the age of my motor. Now everyone is very nice and with the serial number someone always answeres the question. Maybe the question should be "where can I find out how old my motor is?" Anyway here is my question: "What year is my Evinrude 5.5hp Fisherman. Serial Number: 5302M E10839. Thanks.

Re: Identification of Engine/Motor

You're the proud owner of a 1963 Evinrude 2 cylinder engine. It displaces 8.84 cubes, and makes it's 5.5hp at 4000RPM. The original plug was a Champion J6J, which was replaced by the Champion J6C.
5302M is your model number, and E10839 is your serial number.
Picture.

Where you find this kind of information.
