I just picked up an evenrude lark 25532-03146. From what I can tell of other posts on this site the first number is the model and second number is the S/N. that being said, it seems that the first two numbers of the model number are the hp, 25, and the next number has to do with the year, 55??,65?? and from there I have no idea what the other numbers mean. It would be great if someone can help me identify my motor, but even better if someone posted the "secret code" to decifer the numbers since it seem a lot of people have this same question.

thatnks in advance for the help!
kjk

Re: Identification of evenrude outboard

Evinrude rarely had numbers that made much sense. The first digits indicating horsepower is a bit of a tradition. The numbers following having no meaningful pattern whatsoever is also traditional. But in your case it's a 1957 35Hp motor. So much for Tradition. :(

the "secret code" is unknown to me.
I just look them up in a chart.

The code you may be referring to, applies to motors made after 1979.

Its your lucky day.
You just got an extra 10 hp.

25532
35 hp
1957
