What does the size on a prop mean IE. 15.25 x 15 p. I think the 15 p means the pitch, just don't know the first part. Looking to get a spare prop and have access to a 13.75 x 21p prop. Will this fit my boat, 305 chevy motor, mercruiser outdrive, 1977 mirro, cruiser boat, kind of heavy, max rpm 3500 probably. Thanks in advance, Mike

Re: Identifiying a prop size

15.25 x 15 means it is has 15.25" diameter and 15" pitch.

If it will work (effectively) on your boat or not all depends on a bunch factors, gear ratio in out drive, condition of engine, how clean the hull is, weight, etc, etc.

Best way for you is to test drive, and see if you can reach the specified WOT (wide open throttle) rpm as per manual or not, or if you are over revving.
