Can someone here help me identify the carb in this pic? It is on a 24' Grady project I purchased with a 1997 350 magnum engine. Boat has been sitting for a few years, so I want to pull carb, clean it up and put a new kit in it before even trying to start. Thanks

Ayuh,.... Looks like my Merc/ Weber Carter clone,....

It's the same carb as the Edlebrock 1409,...

Btw,... Edlebrock parts, 'n kits are cheaper, 'n with more Options,...

This is the Bible for that carb,...... ;)

Re: Identify Carb

Wow, you guys are fast! Engine serial number on tag by starter looks like K278713. Last number may be something else, but rest of numbers are good.

Re: Identify Carb

Yep, it's a Weber/Carter AFB/Edlebrock...

Look for a symbol in the casting like this

If you see that, it's the Weber...

Re: Identify Carb

Does Edelbrock build these carbs and Weber and Carter rebadge them?

Re: Identify Carb

Original built by Carter, and was called 'Aluminium Four Barrel', hence AFB... Weber bought the license and made the first copies... (what you see on your engine). Not sure how Edelbrock got into them, but they are EXACTLY the same as the Weber....

Son of a gun, that's something. I remember back in the old days we'd brag and say we had a Carter AFB, and had no idea what we were talking about.
