Identify Merc outboard and recommendations

I'm talking to a seller 450 miles away and they tell me the engine is a Mercury 115 H.P. serial number A154735. (I guess they got this right) I can't get this to fit into the charts I'm looking at. Can anyone identify the year of this engine and also is this a 4 or 6 cylinder and overall how was this model on reliablity, economy and performance. I've mostly had OMC's. Thanks for your help!

It looks like they gave you the wrong serial # The OA serials start at OA9XXXXX and that would make this would be a 1986 115 Inline 6 cylinder.Call em back and get em to correct # or count the spark plugs.

Actually, it's a 1985 Model. 6 cyl.
In the Merc dealer software, you can type in the SN and it gives you the model number. As shown in this picture.

Then you can go to the Year/Horsepower tab and through trial and error, go through the years to find the right model number as shown here.
