Hi all, I need help identifying and old Eska I pulled out of the garbage. I finally found a tag that was covered in paint. After removing the paint I found it was an Eska tag with model # and serial number. The model # is really faded but I believe the last numbers are 1142. It looks like there is a space for about two more numbers in front of the 1142 but it is impossible to tell if there is something there. The serial number is 22752. I have found some info on a model # 1142 but I can't find anything at all about the serial number. I have been told that it is a 3.5hp eska and I have been told that it is a 5hp eska. The lower unit does not have neutral. The lower unit has a curled tube down by the propeller that looks like it was designed to have water forced up it by the movement of the prop. I started to pull the lower unit apart to see if it has a water pump but the curled tube will not let me drop it. I suppose it is attached up in the leg somewhere. Any info about this motor will be great. I already know about the fuel pump element being a problem and mine was in pieces. I did get it to run for a few seconds so I would like to save this old motor.

What about an impeller? Do I have one since I have the force tube?

No impeller needed on yours, rule of thumb is don't idle it to long but the engine is tuffer than given credit for.
Fact; Eska boasted in advertizing that there single cylinder water pump models could infact run for long periods with out the impeller function.....mostly proven to me by the fact every single cylinder Eska I have had a bad impeller when I got it....LOL

I just picked up another eska at a junk sale, figured the parts would be good to have. This one is a 3.5hp and has the exact same carb. The carbs have the old style fuel inlet with check and a check valve in the carb. I am having trouble getting fuel to flow freely through these on both carbs. I was wondering if anyone has totally replaced the carb with a newer model? I would think that a new carb would work nicely if I could find one that worked. Any suggestions?

I was also wondering if I could just remove the check valves and only use the onboard fuel tank? Thoughts?
