I recently acquired a Sea King 35, model gg8836a, ser # 06x788169. Any idea what year this motor is? Are there repair manuals and parts still available?

Re: identify sea king 35 please

It is a 1960, made by Gale Products Division of OMC. You probably have heard of the other OMC motors, Johnson and Evinrude. Almost everything on your motor, other than the hood, was also used on it's J/E cousins, although not necessarily the same year. This means that J/E dealers are the place to look for parts. Our host, iboats also sells commonly used parts such as water pumps and stuff.

Manuals are available from Ken Cook at outboardbooks.com/ A parts book would be very valuable to you because you can look up the part number before going to the dealer. Otherwise he won't give you the time of day.

Re: identify sea king 35 please

I cannot find how to start a new link but my question is the same as this. I have a 35hp Sea King Model C7998GG with a serial # 099147x59. What year is the motor? Also looking for suggestions on paint(grey, white) to touch up.

Thanks
Doug

On the Other Outboard Brands page, there is a big blue button saying Create New Post. Mash it and you are in business

Your numbers are reversed. It should be GG8997C and is a 1959. Gale model 35DE12. Krylon's #1504 Ivory (Wal-Mart) is a pretty good match for the white. I don't have a suggestion for the blue-gray.
