Hello, didn't know iboats had a forum

Glad it does, I need help id'ing this boat I purchased this March...Has twin 283s, port side helm...Don't know what more info is needed...Prolly just that Blue Chris Book ;)

Don't think the railing is original, what with the way it enters the side of the boat there, instead of further back...

Couldn't upload pic cuz of file size, so here's a link...I'll edit link in case live outside links aren't allowed here..

Just replace the xx with tt and HOPEFULLY someone here can tell me the model and or year of this boat. It's in the water, just started on it, but has taken me till now to get the pics offa my camera (no vista drivers) :(

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Paul

Sorry bigb, my stomach starts to go into spasms when I see those old wood boats.

Re: Identify this boat?

Heh, ya, I hear ya...It's actually not too bad on gas at all, for the runs I've had it out on...Lots of work to go yet, but would like to find out the actual model of it, as that'd help me a lot in the resto. Was told Constellation but the guy that told me that, well, his eyes were brown if ya know what I mean...Couldn't pass it up for what I got it for, could yank the 283's and double what I paid, so figured why not.

those 283's are antiques now. can't find them. you could have a bit of gold in your pocket with those engines.

Looks to be late 50's early 60's. Classic cruiser. Is the hull all wood, or is it fiberglass with wood transom?

BTW a 283 should be similar to the small block chevy 305. I would think non-internal engine parts might interchange, of you needed them to.

The hull is all wood I belive. No matter, its a fine looking boat.

The thing about and old boat like that is when they built it gas was around 18 to 29 cents a gallon.

Re: Identify this boat?

Thanks for the votes of confidence in my purchase, folks ;)

Cost me 1300$ , I've put about the same into the hull (yes, wood), and fixing up all that was not working...Rewired shorepower throughout, all new GFI's, breaker panel, got water running again, as well as getting the head functioning...Last owner apparently just didn't care if he had any amenities on board...Both 283's run fine, timings a bit lazy on port side, but have only had it since May of this year, spent about 2 months HARD getting hull ready. Was no sense carrying on with it if it wouldn't float ;) Got a BEAUTIFUL transom, damn near 10ft beam, she's rock solid in the water, my Dad's glass Chris tosses like a top ;)

Needs TLC on topsides, that's coming in Oct. when she comes out, but...

I STILL don't know what model it is :confused::confused:

No worries though, sure it'll be fine, what with this forum here to help me.

Thanks all!

Here is your picture.... Read the sticky on the Non-Boating Technical Topics on how to post a picture. You should limit the size to 640X480 I resized it.
