Identify year of Motor

I recently bought a 25 HP johnson motor, how can I tell the year? Is there a number or code somewhere?

Look on the mounting bracket and there should be a tag with the model number on . we need this to ID the year.<br />If it is gone look on the motor there should be a shiney welsh plug about the size of a quarter with the number on it.

That's a 1991 Johnson. The 1 in your model number is actually an I.
