Identify year of this 9.9 please

I'm buying this off a friend, making it a winter project/fixer upper. <br /><br />Model # is 10724a, SN is E0001575.<br /><br />Also, he pointed out the water pump is probably out, and when the choke is pushed in it'll die. Either of these issues expensive? Any thoughts on this year?<br /><br />Thanks!

1977 Evinrude 9.9hp. The choke problem indicates the carburetor requires cleaning and rebuilding.

That's a '77 9.9hp there, Chris.<br /><br />Sounds like the carb is in need of rebuilding - not a difficult task. The kit for that is around $20. You'll need a manual too ($30-$40, or library). The entire water pump is around $40, or you can get a fix-up kit for around $15.<br /><br />Excellent 9.9hp link, read all about it.<br /> <br />Good luck!<br /><br />EDIT: Pardon, Joe Reeves. Chris.... Parts, any Evinrude/Johnson dealership, and also at NAPA. There may be others, and if so, I'm sure that other members will jump in here with that info.
