Identify year

I have a 25 hp Evinrude I am trying to identify. Unfortunately the tag has been scuffed up too badly to recover either a model number or serial number. Is there any other way of identifying the year?

Posting a pic would be a great help. You can also look for a quarter sized welch plug on the block, around the cylinder area to get the numbers too.
