Identifying a dual voltage light

I have a cabin light that is dual voltage. it has no markings. I want to repair or replace. It is oem formula circa 1973!

Any ideas

Are you saying it is a 120VAC/12VDC light? In that case it would need a transformer to turn 120AC into 12DC...

I think what you may have is a light/lights that works off of two circuits, the first is your batteries the second is your shore power or gen set.

The voltage switch is likely done through an inverter or voltage adapter in your boat. The only way to know for sure is to measure the voltage at the light with a multimeter.

Just a quick thought, on our boat you have to turn on the cabin light switch (its at the helm) before any of the cuddy lights will come on.
and your boat??????

everything is self switched. this light has 2 switches in it. the only marking on the whole light is a lable saying do not use both voltages at the same time
