Identifying my Evinrude outboard

I bought a used Evinrude boat motor. It appears to be a late 60's vintage in very good condition. The problem is I cannot find a serial number anywhere on the thing. The plate that should be visible when I have it mounted is gone and the little aluminum plug on top of the motor is also gone. It turns over but has no spark and the boat guy that is helping me is having a hard time matching up the parts we think are needing replaced. Any links to engine diagrams earlier than 1968?

You realize of course, that it probably is a stolen motor? Why else would anybody remove all the ID? Aside from that, some descriptions and or pictures might help. There is a website with pictures of all those old motors but right at the moment it is saying "access forbidden" Dunno why. www.old-omc.de is the place.

Yeah, I have come to the conclusion that at some point this motor was probably stolen. When I bought the motor I was new to the whole boating scene. Because of its age, I doubt it was stolen recently, although stolen is stolen so. hopefully I can access that page and figure out what year it is.

Oh, it could be stolen, or not. By this time it's not worth worrying about. Can you take a photo of it and post it here? Someone will doubtless be able to narrow it down to a year, just by seeing it.

take some pictures, upload to photobucket. then clik the box under the pictures you want to post, go to the bottom of the page, clik generate html. it will show a new page, about 3 columns down it will say thumbnails, clik on the box, and copy. then come back and post a rely, and paste the photobucket info. and hit post quick reply.

Re: Identifying my Evinrude outboard

I followed the link provided and I have been able to determine that my motor is a 1967 starflite 100. thanks for your help.
