First of all I am new to boating, so go easy on me if I ask a stupid question, I plan to ask a bunch. Already struck out in another forum so hopefully you guys are more helpful and tolerant of us newbies. I do most of my own mechanical work on everything else I own with the help of a good repair manual, something I don't have yet for the boat. I went and bought a Seloc manual that is supposed to cover my motor/drive but it is so generic I find it useless. Any tips on what to replace it with would be appreciated, and if anybody is interested in the Seloc manual let me know, I'll be selling that soon. I use Clymer on my ATV's and those are excellent but I hear they are full of mistakes when it comes to marine applications? Anyway, in order to get the right manual and the right parts I need to know exactly how to talk about what I have, I already read the post "How to Ask a Question" so I won't bother to tell you the boat is a '90 Larson
which seems important since it tells you the model year, but hey I'm new here so what do I know? On top of the motor it says "Volvo Penta 250" and on the drive it says "SP 250" so I have determined that the model is SP 250 I guess? Is this enough to help me buy parts for it? Already was sold the wrong oil filter at a marine shop... Thanks for your help, lots more questions coming. (Other numbers on engine "250A/SP 2200109638 868261, and on upper drive "854019 SP-A 2,15 3102069586" and on lower unit 852742 FA393-5")
