Can you see on the tag if it is a Montgomery Wards, Clinton, or Sears (Eska)? That'd be a great starting point.

Nobody but MW marketed Sea King outboards. They were made by several different manufacturers.

The model number starting with GG identifies that one as built by Gale, a division of OMC. I don't have the chart to decode the model number into year and HP. It is probably a 30HP from the late 50s.

There are several 1963 Sea Kings that don't exist, according to the model number lists. My theory is that since 1963 was the last year of Gale production in U.S. they may have run out of motors to fill Ward's purchase contract. So they imported some from Canada, with funky model numbers. The Gale-built motors continued in Canada for a couple of years after 1963.

I checked and last letters on motor and it was E. It is a Montgomery Wards made by Gale. The 15 ft.Vhull is also Sea King and I have title to it and it is a 64. Thanks for the comments and info.

There is no doubt concerning the year of your Gale Sea King. The "36X" tells that. Just reverse the numbers preceeding the X and you get the year. 36 reversed is 63---1963. You just have one of those funky model numbers, probably built in Canada.
