Greets all. Helping my sister and brother in law out with their new boat purchase, 1989 31' cruiser. Amazing condition.

The previous owner was pretty upfront at the time of purchase that the toilet was problematic. Having done some digging now, I don't think that he used it much (if at all) in the 5 years he owned the boat, actually, so it might have been one of those "it was broken when we bought it and I never fixed it" scenarios.

Anyhow, getting it fixed is now a priority. I'm familiar with RV toilets and such but with some investigation I wrapped my head around the marine toilet and it appears pretty simple. I confirmed that the through-hull water pickup is operational (a LOT of crud came out of the plumbing when I re-activated things) and the pump and macerator seem to be operational (it takes in water and flushes/pumps it away successfully), but the clearly the "problem" that the PO mentioned is that it leaks like a siv underneath when there's any water in the bowl.

So, it looks like a rebuild is in order...but there are NO markings anywhere on the toilet that indicate it's model. Best as I can dig up from Google Images, it appears to be a Jabsco 37010, but comparing pictures, I seem to remember that the water feed line TO the bowl came out of the left side of the pump, not the right side as every picture of the 37010 I can find online shows.

I'm now wondering if the toilet is actually some oddball model (NOT a 37010)...my concern is ordering a rebuild kit for a 37010, only to discover that the parts don't fit.

Can someone please confirm if the rebuild kit is typically a "this fits every electric jabsco model out there" situation, or if there's apt to be problems with finding the exact kit without first somehow identifying the model of toilet?

Thanks
Mark

There is something about re-building a toilet that is not all that appealing. . . . any thoughts of just replacing it ? That may be your better option.

Rebuild kit: ~$50
New toilet: $500+

That's why. ;)

I'm not squeamish that way. A good bleach rinse and spray down and some rubber gloves and I'm good to go.
