Fishing last night on a river, probably 500 feet wide, I am 25-30 feet from shore on a slight curve, 1 pontoon running on the other side of the river, 300 feet in between us.

I hear a boat, sounds close, I turn around just in time to see this A-hole in a boat going 25-30 mph is going to go between me and the shore, as he blows by 4 feet from my ancored boat I see he is pulling 2 kids on a tube with a 100 foot rope!!

I had just thrown to a 12'' wide stump that is 2-3'' under the water which is right where the guy went through, he couldn't have missed it by more than a couple inches with the boat or the tube.

Stupidest thing I have ever seen anyone do, glad he didn't kill me or his kids.

That could have been horrible.

Too bad the driver of the boat won't learn from this and will probably go on to hurt someone later down the road.

Wow... Another reason for a USCG mandatory boating safety course!!! Most of the reputable dealers in my area offer up this course when you buy a boat from them.

Re: Idiot of the year

I was out yesterday and decided to give my wife some lessons in low speed / tight-quarter maneuvering (with a jet boat!). So we went to a more isolated area of the lake, near shore, to use the 'no wake' bouys as a fixture to manauever around. Anyway. . .

Whenever she was trying to do something, someone would blow by us. So we moved to another part of the lake (mind you, this lake is big - buckeye lake, oh). So she was circling the bouy in reverse . . . and someone decided to anchor about 100ft from us. . . she got tired of having to worry about it so she gave up :( and I didn't blame her.

I am not usually annoyed by other boaters b/c its a public place and I dont expect much from the public but I dont understand what the appeal and attraction is of a boat going slow
