Idle adjustment after setting WOT timing?

Thank You I have set the timing as Mr. Reeves said. model (J50BELCTA) . Started her up just fine on muffs ,out of gear. Was wondering what RPMs should I set the idle on muffs, out of gear? Before I had the idle set at 750 RPMs on muffs, out of gear.And when in the bay she wanted to and would sometimes die putting her in gear.Hope to put her in the Bay today and test her out . Was only getting around 4200 RPMs @ WOT want to make sure everything is just right before sizing a new prop. for her. Thanks Again ,John

set it a hundred rpm higher than spec on the muffs. Then readjust once on the water.

My 85 hp johnny idles at 600 in the water in gear. I think its about 700 on the muffs.

Sounds like a fine tuned motor hope to get mine running top notch too. Thanks, John
