Idle and Evinrude ?

1995ish 200hp Ocean Pro, Just rebuilt. The silly thing ran fine on mufflers. Backed it into water. Would not idle. I have seen this happen a few other times. Can anybody explain why or how this happens? <br />Any experience with ocean pro's ? New to this engine.

Your exhaust backpressure is greater in the water than on muffs. May need to bump the idle and/or tweak the mixture at the dock. I like to run motors in a barrel if possible to more closely simulate how they'll run in the lake or bay.
