I have a 1999 Johnson 150 hp (J150PLEES) on a 1999 Triton 18' boat.
We had a fast foot connected to the throttle. We did not like the fast foot and so we took it off and re connected the throttle/gearshift lever on the side of the boat. When we had the fast foot on it would idle properly. Since we have hooked up the lever on the side of the boat we are not able to keep the boat running at idle when the motor is warm. Sometimes it is hard to start when cold.
When we did this reinstallation of the lever we we followed the instructions in the OEM book. We have been told that the ignition advance lever should be touching the little wheel that move moves it . Ours was not touching by 3/16" but the closest we could get it was 1/16" and that made it run worse on idle actually.
Can anyone tell me what to do here ? I know it can run right at idle cause it did with the fast foot so why not when it controlled by the lever?
Thanks,
Nate
