I have a 1985 Evenrude 85 horse engine that only runs at idle.
As soon as I try to advance the throttle, it dies.

I have rebuilt the carbs, cleaned the leaf valves, replaced
the timing plate with the two timing sensors (one sensor was
electrically open), replaced the diodes that support the alternator.

The timing is 5 degrees advanced at idle (per the manual), it starts
fine. But as soon as I advance the throttle and timing arm,
it dies (should advance to 25 to 27 degrees timing). I can advance the
carbs by hand and manually retard the timing and it runs up to
2500 RPM's. But it will not run if I advance the timing.

All cylinders seem to be firing, each has over 90 pounds compression.

Any advice?

Ford Aero X
