Hello everyone,
I have an 1990 4.3L omc W/ spitfire ignition system. Im having an issue with the idle and looking for some thoughts. When I first start up the boat it will rev up to around 1200 and then slowly go back down to around 650 and stay there. I then go out and make a couple rounds on the lake and when I return to idle it is down to less then 500 and will then pretty much stall out. Im thinking it is a carb problem but the boat seems to run just fine if I keep the RPM's up. Should I just set the idel higher?? Also, there seems to be alot of black smoke compared to the last time I had it out. Maybe it is getting overloaded with fuel?? Thanks for any input.
