After searching the board to learn about what idle relief ports do, I found an old post by Schematic where he speculated what would happen if you plugged them up. Schematic if you're out there did you ever try this? Has anyone ever tried this? Just very curious about this. Would appreciate any further info. Thanks.

Re: idle relief ports

G'day. If you plugged your idle ports you would have poor performance at idle. The Exhust gasses would not be able to exit through the ports. Try stuffing a rag in the exhust pipe of your car. you would get a similar effect.

Re: idle relief ports

We have enhanced the idle by opening them in certian cases. Personally I have never improved the idle by adding backpressure.

The idle relief ports allow the exhaust to escape when the wall of water is highest (maximun backpressure) in the mid section when sitting still and / or at very slow speeds.

Good luck!

Re: idle relief ports

Thanks for the replies. If I open mine up a little bit (drill slightly larger holes) would I get a smoother better idle, or would it mess things up?? Again, just curious. Appreciate the input.
