Idle RPM on Merc. 150XRi

Hey guys, about what RPM should a Merc. 2.5L XRi 150 run at idle? We just had a lower unit put on due to a cracked pinion gear, and we are a little gunshy. When we ran it yesterday it was idling at 1000 RPM. Does this motor have a high idle setting and how long shoukd that run, It was pretty chilly when we ran. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Around 800 to 1000. Not every motor will act the exact same at any specific RPM.

in gear, warm...650 is good, 750 is max [for shifting reasons]...there is no rpm increase built into the efi system during warmup....make sure you are tight on the idle stop with the throttle control cable, and see if you can pull out some idle timing to lower the revs....
