Idle RPM

Its a 88' merc 4.3l v6 175 (GM6269732). I have a manual but I cannot find where it says what the rpms should be at idle. <br />Also, does anyone know if this engine would have an hour meter on it, i can't find one.

500-600 rpm at idle in neutral..<br /><br />As for the hour meter, you probably won't find a merc "factory" meter on the engine.. <br /><br />If there's not one anywhere on the boat, don't be supprised... <br /><br />Only other place to look would be the tachometer.. Some tach's have built in hour meters that look kind of like an odometer on a car...
