image.jpg when setting control cables , the idle screw should be pulled back so is against block right? Is the cable adjusted by the thumb wheels on cable?

To insure that there is no pressure on the carb butterlys, when at idle-the carb roller should actually not touch the cam. I set mine so that you can slip a pc of thin paper between the roller and cam at idle. As soon as you press the throttle forward-even a little, the roller is already engaging the cam and moving it.

Still a throttle cable adjustment problem. The idle is being determined by the throttle cable position, instead of when the screw rests on the block. When set like this, the idle can vary, depending on what position the cable is when shifted into neutral. (could vary a hundred rpm's or so.) You need to set the idle when the throttle cable is disengaged at the engine end. Then, set the idle first, then adjust the cable end to meet the position of the stud on the throttle lever.

The thumb wheel is adjusted so that the screw goes against the block each and every time.--Even a slight bit of preload on it is good.
