Could anyone tell me what the idle speed should be on a 115 HP Evinrude, model year 1993. I just bought this pontoon boat and after a 1 hour and 40 min run the idle speed was running at 1100 rpm's. How difficult is this to adjust? How often should the plugs be changed?

This is my first outboard engine and just want to be aware of any situation about this engine. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Also, any info on fuel consumption and recommended rpm. Used 9 gal @ 3000 rpm for a 30 mile run today. Pontoon boat is a 24' Aqua Patio. :)

Re: Idle speed 1993 Evinrude 115 HP

Hi Bob, Welcome aboard. I have the same engine and the idle speed is between 600 and 700 RPM in gear.

WOT (Wide open throttle) is between 4500 and 5500 RPM. I've never had mine over 5000 and usually I cruise at 4000.

I'm told that adjusting the idle speed is not a simple task - but I'll leave it to the professionals to answer that one. For some reason I'm not certain whether mine idles slightly faster when hot or not.

Fuel consumption will vary with boat size and type and mine is very different to yours, so I will pass on that one too.

Good luck with your new boat.

Thank you, 62-Kiwi, for the information. I agree about leaving stuff to the professionals (repairs). I really don't know anything about outboards.

My other boat is a 243 Cobalt that the dealer handles any maintenance, winterization etc.
