On my bigtwin there is a white nylon idle speed adjustment thingy next to the fuel line connection. When I screw it in or out it doesnt seem to make any difference. How does it actually adjust the idle speed and if it was working, should it be screwed in or out to change the revs of the motor, faster or slower?
Regards
Tich :)

Re: Idle speed adjuster

Tich,

Good question. The one on mine is broken off, so there's no way to turn it. Fortunately, the motor idles just right.

Paul will have the answer!

Re: Idle speed adjuster

Looking at the blowup from the 1968 40hp model, screwing it in should speed up the idle. It's just a stop for the throttle.

Yep, its just a plastic screw which stops your throttle at a point you set. Screw it in further and you can't pull your throttle back as far giving you a slightly faster idle.

Matt
