I'v been living with in gear idle speed close to stalling for past two seasons. Engine runs at 500-550 in gear, and I have to give it a little more throttle 600-650 to smooth it out and comfortably run inside the marina or in idle speed only zones. The Svc Manual says 625-725 RPM in gear. Needless to say this is a PITA when using forward/reverse maneuvers during docking. Always worrying about stalling at a bad time. The engine is a 1996, 150 HP, carborated, Merc Offshore serial OG337xxx. I have the service manual and was wondering if just the idle speed tweak would solve my problems. Here is a pic of the idle adjustment procedure in the manual. Thanks .. Bob D.
