Idle

89 50 hp johnson..........having trouble at idle . New power head, carbs, pump and primer . Had a known mechanic do the work, but he could not get idle right . He kept it for 8 weeks ( the second time ) trying to straighten it out with no luck, he finally gave up . It does fine in no wake zones, my problem is with docking and trailering. It will continually stall, which obviously creates some bad situations !
I have idle screw turned all the way up . Fuel pressure maybe ? Low speed to rich ? or lean ? Hoping there is something I can do !! Any suggestions into this would be greatly appreciated !

Just because it's a new p/h I'd still check the compression on it. And then find a new mechanic.

I had a 87 50hp same thing psi was 135 on both but, I could never get it to idle what a pain at the dock.
I did learn that if the carbs pick up tube was cracked it would effect the idle of the motor. I sold the motor before I checked the pick up tubes.
It may be worth a look.
