If engine runs with no battery

I used to have almost 8 separate wires connecting to my battery, I just fabricated a DC bus so now only two wires run to my battery. On the Pos wire there is a main fuse. I rated it kind of high however lets say the engine is in high RPM and that fuse blows (battery disconnects), what would happen? Would I notice it? Or would the engine shut down? Any damage or electrical surge? It’s an 87 90hp inline 6.

Thanks...

Yes you would fry your rectifier as I have just done.

Re: If engine runs with no battery

Generally, the rectifier output connects to the same terminal on the starter solenoid that the large positive battery cable connects to. The output of the rectifier chargers the battery through the large battery cable. Therefore, if you have a separate DC feed to all your accessories from the positive terminal of the battery and that feed is opened, you will not affect the rectifier because it has not been removed from the circuit.
