PLEASE HELP!... I have a old Johnson 100 hp that has been running great Then I had to get the starter rebuild ( ouch) and I replaced the starter solenoid and key switch. On my last run I was lossing power and top end it was off and on! but it would still start! Anyhow! heres my deal! Someone before i owent he boat did away with the the powerpack and the sensor on the distebutor. and put points on it!. its been running fine!
but now it wont start it cracks but no start. the points dont look good. Need to replace them! But I dont know what ones to buy the ones on it are not from the old set out! it looks like a auto points. the pivit point on the bottom is about 1/4 does anyone know what point this would be? Also I was talking to a guy at the boat shop and he said my points would be gettint all 12v and that it would be smart to buy something to reduce that to like 8 v that is that part? thanks for any help! Im new at this outboard motor stuff. ( feeling alittle ticked ) thanks again for any help! wanting to take it camping in two days!
