Ignition issue

At times I am having problems with my ignition not turning the motor over. To be exact, nothing happens when the key is turned. I believe the real problem is in the shifting lever not telling the ignition the motor is in neutral. The reason I say this is when I work the shifting lever back and forth into neutral the ignition will work again.

The motor is a 2004 Mercury 90 hp with Yamaha controls. Could I please have your thoughts?

Don, If you have to move the shifter back and forth to get it to start, then yes you really need to look at the neutral safety switch...
