Hi ya All, I need to get another ignition key for my OMC control box, the original one got lost during a long lay up period. I read in a post recently that the number of the key can be read off the ignition switch. I stripped out the switch last week and found the number 259, my local dealer says that is not the right number. Can someone please tell me where to look?
Cheers.

Rubber Frog said:-

Why not just replace the switch?

--------------------
Hi Ya my friend, I don't know what boating related items cost in the States but here in the UK as soon as you mention boats the £ signs start flashing. To buy a single key is $10.00 and to buy the switch will set me back $50.00. How does that compare in the US?
I rang my marina and asked them to check the key number for me, despite having to use binoculars they could only just make out the numbers the best they could make out is 55 or 56. I have a key of each number to try tomorrow (Sat)hope one of them fits. :(
Cheers.

Hi Ya my friend, good news on the key, one of them fitted perfectly. Sods Law decrees that when you lose something it will wait until you buy new before reappearring. You got it, two days after buying these keys (2 @ $10 each) the old ones turned up in the cupboard in my garage which I have searched umpteen times. Flaming gremlins!
Cheers mate.
BTW I have put an (answer?) to your other problem.
