Ignition Key Switch Replacement

My ignition key switch has gone bad on my 1994 70hp Force. I think the push-to-choke feature had gone bad as well as the spring action that returned it from start position to the run position. To top it off when I removed the switch and leads to clean everything up with a wire brush the main power terminal for the battery wire broke off.

The only replacement part I have found so far is the Mercury/Quicksilver switch F5H268. It seems to range from $40-50. I was just wondering if there are any alternatives or if I should just go with this part. Thanks.

They actually have replacement switches at this store, Iboat. Just make sure you count all the terminals and the length of the shaft for the existing switch. and yes, they even have the push to choke feature too. Costs around $20~$40 depending on the model and type.

Appreciate the input. I was thinking really any switch that matched the features of mine would work but wanted to be 100%. Thanks!

Re: Ignition Key Switch Replacement

I purchased and installed a new ignition last month. It's a push to choke 3 position (off, run, start) and had 6 terminal on the back for $18 and works great. search for "3 position 6 terminal push to choke ignition"

Re: Ignition Key Switch Replacement

I just wanted to follow up and say I ended up ordering a Sierra MP41000 ignition switch off of Amazon. Its a 3 position, push-to-choke, with 6 terminals and was $18 with free shipping for Prime members. I should get it in the mail and have it installed by this weekend so I'll follow up with my thoughts on it in case anyone in the future stumbles upon this thread looking for a new switch.
